Strawberry Nutella Puff Pastry Treats

My kids and I have been experimenting with puff pastry and Nutella lately.  The first batch didn't turn out very post-worthy, but with practice, we've gotten better!
Then we had the idea to add strawberries!  And my husband came home from the North Slope of Alaska where he only eats the healthy food offered from the chefs at their work site.  He cited one example of frequently eaten breakfast as the "Alaskan Supreme Omelet."  But he sticks with fruit and oatmeal.  So we wanted to make him a nice little welcome home homemade treat.
We had a star cookie cutter, so we decided to make little star - shaped treats.  My husband ate one, then declared that he could eat these all day.  We're making more tomorrow!

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • Nutella
  • Thinly sliced strawberries
  • 1 egg, beaten, with 1 tbsp water
  • Cinnamon sugar, optional
  1. The puff pastry should be thawed per package directions.
  2. Prepare a large cutting board, or flour a surface.
  3. Unfold the sheet of puff pastry, and wrap the other back up and refrigerate immediately.
  4. Roll out the the puff pastry sheet, flouring the rolling pin if needed.
  5. Cut out 14 stars.
  6. Remove the excess pastry sheet, then make straws with cinnamon sugar out of the leftovers.
  7. Brush the stars with the egg wash.  Spoon some Nutella on 7 of the stars.  Lay some strawberries on each star.  Top with the remaining stars.  Crimp the edges with your fingers.  Dust with cinnamon sugar if desired.
  8. Refrigerate for 30 minutes, then bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
