There are a few blocks of Little Rock's Hillcrest district on Kavanaugh that I frequent pretty often. From Rosalia's Family Bakery to Hillcrest Artisan Meats (H.A.M.), I know that I can always satisfy my palate after visiting these reliably rewarding Little Rock merchants.
At Cafe Bossa Nova, you can experience the phenomenal cheese bread pictured above. It has a perfect crisp outer crust with an inner filling of soft bread and creamy cheese. It is made with yucca root flour, and it is gluten free! If you become addicted to this bread when dining at Cafe Bossa Nova, just go next door to Rosalia's and order a bag of frozen take and bake cheese bread. A bag of a dozen will cost about $8 plus tax. I want to try being gluten free for a while, so I bought 2 bags for my freezer.
So Happy New Year's Eve! I picked up some Creminelli Prosciutto Cotto from Hillcrest Artisan Meats for our family's snacking and viewing of NBC's NYE special with Carson Daly. We really do enjoy just ringing in the new year quietly...but the greatest discovery tonight was how great the prosciutto paired with the cheese bread! OMG. In 2014, we need more Rosalia's cheese bread & Hillcrest Artisan Meat's prosciutto sandwiches.
I can already see myself ordering the baked cheese bread from Rosalia's and some prosciutto from H.A.M. for those lunch days when I need to eat in and get caught up on work at the office. But soup, I need soup too! Preferably clam or seafood chowder, lentils, chicken and dumplings, kale minestrone...
