House of Gee Smoked Pulled Pork

Friends Erika and Kelly of North Little Rock recently scored a really nice, professional smoker via Kickstarter for hosting family and friends as well as for surrounding barbecue competitions.  Look out Mr. Robken (our former Baker Elementary Vice Principal).  Justin's winnings have been well deserved, although I'm only judging from Facebook photos.

I was super stoked to taste the smoked pulled pork from the House of Gee smoker today with the homemade bourbon sauce.  Smoked meats are really hard to beat, and the Gee pulled pork ranked pretty highly in those standards.
I love pickled onions with pulled pork.  I also love my electric salt mill.  See how the light shines down on your food?  With the press of a button, your coarse kosher salt is ground over your food.  I know, it's a blurry picture.  Hard to hold hands still while multi - tasking.

So salt, sugar, and some vinegar give you some nicely pickled onions.  I put them all inside a mason jar and shake vigorously.  I love my heart - shaped measuring spoons.  Everything is made with love in this household.
The Gees had several of us out to their home Memorial Day weekend when they roasted a whole hog. Several of us brought side dishes, so we had so much food to sample!  They're good people.  I feel pretty thankful to get to be a part of the Little Rock food community.  The Gees had us out with Arkansas Foodies Michael & Jess, Eat Arkansas writer Daniel Walker, Kevin of The Mighty Rib, Southern Ash writer and his wife, as well as Local Lime's Lee Edwards & girlfriend Erin.  You should follow us all on Twitter for some fun foodie talk! Here's hoping that the House of Gee will let us all buy smoked meats and homemade sauces from them because some of us can't do it on our own!

  1. I'm glad to have the chance to make my smoked pulled pork recipe. I admit it’s difficult to perfect this kind of recipe without a detailed guide. But I am motivated to do this recipe so I can add it on my spit roast catering menu.
